Miss Marjorie and her handsome dog Jasper greeted us immediately and offered us wine or water. There were only two of us and the tour and history were simply wonderful. For a woman in her 90's, she never slowed down and it was simply amazing. The home had been in her family for generations and hearing first hand stories were definitely delightful. Now on to the ghosts! As we walked into the parlor I felt a cold spot that stayed cold, yet inches to the left or right, nothing noticeable. We captured several blue orbs in the dining room. I would highly recommend a visit to the home.

Stop what you're doing and go see Glenfield!!! My husband and I took the candlelit ghost tour on 05-16-2022 and had an absolute blast! Mrs. Marjorie and Ms. Valerie were wonderful, very knowledgeable about the history of Glenfield and proud to call it their home. During our ghost tour we were fortunate enough to be able to get several orbs on camera both in photos and videos all over the property! If you're coming to Natchez to explore the haunted history Glenfield is an absolute must see! We loved the house and the ladies so much we extended our vacation by an extra day just so that we could stay here! Mrs. Marjorie and Ms. Valerie went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything that we needed. For breakfast Mrs. Marjorie cooked a delightful and delicious spread for us and was so warm and hospitable for both our tour and our stay. If you're looking for somewhere to stay in the Natchez area that will actually welcome and treat you like family stay here!

Why it's Haunted

Operating as a 200-year-old antebellum plantation that survived Union soldiers’ attempts to seize the property by force during the Civil War, Glenfield Plantation became forever haunted by generations of families who lived and died within its walls, their spirits refusing to abandon the grand estate where they experienced both Southern luxury and violent wartime terror that transformed Natchez into one of Mississippi’s most concentrated supernatural hotspots.

The plantation’s fourth-generation homeowner leads candlelight ghost story tours through the haunting dining room and each room of the house, sharing harrowing tales of ancestors whose spirits continue manifesting through orbs captured on recording devices, unexplained paranormal activity, and the overwhelming presence of those who died defending their antebellum lifestyle from Northern invasion during America’s bloodiest conflict.

The property harbors multiple restless souls from different eras, including family members who perished during the Civil War siege when Union forces attempted to commandeer the estate, enslaved people who died working the plantation grounds, and subsequent generations whose attachment to the ancestral home transcended death as they maintain eternal residence in rooms where they once lived, loved, and lost everything to war.

Operating now as a historic bed and breakfast offering three-course dinners followed by paranormal tours, Glenfield invites guests to experience firsthand the supernatural legacy of Mississippi’s plantation era, where visitors consistently document mysterious orbs, hear disembodied voices echoing through antebellum rooms, and feel the presence of Confederate defenders who died protecting the estate from Union occupation.

The Iron Queen
So…. I’ll be frank about it, we were unsure of our choice when we arrived. Perhaps our first impression was a mismatch of humor but we have never been to Natchez before and had arrived through the town through a sketchy section and, with windows down, I got loud, raunchy “admiration” that thankfully my husband couldn’t hear well enough to get shook. I rolled up my window and we moved on. We pulled up and the Inn has seen better days… then the concierge told us don’t worry about parking in the tow zone the town can’t afford the towing. We were quite taken aback as we’ve never been there. We are the gracious type and the person checking us in must be as well because everyone got past that. Still, we were quite concerned. We get into our room and the commode was an unexpected adventure ride. Then… we got back and lay on the bed. Wow what a great bed!! We slept like babies and the charm of the place worked on us and we fell in love with the place. We make a point to never ever check haunted status before going anywhere as I’m unfortunately sensitive to the other side. Yes… I saw the little boy but I wasn’t sure at the time if it was boy or girl. He asked me to move my things from the chair by the fireplace. Very sweet, maybe lonely. I don’t tend to comment on what I (at least think I) feel but this one was so sweet and wanted us to love his home. It worked haha At any rate, we did fall in love with the place.

Why it's Haunted

Originally established in 1840 as a grand antebellum mansion in the heart of historic downtown Natchez, The Guest House Historic Mansion became forever haunted during Mississippi’s most turbulent periods including the Civil War, yellow fever epidemics, and slavery era when countless individuals died within its walls seeking refuge in one of the South’s most dangerous cities, creating a supernatural concentration where antebellum luxury and human suffering intersected to produce lasting paranormal manifestations.

The mansion’s haunting intensified through its conversion from private residence to inn in the 1980s, awakening the restless spirits of those who lived and died during the property’s 180+ year history when Natchez served as a major Mississippi River port where disease, violence, and economic upheaval claimed lives among wealthy plantation owners, enslaved people, Civil War casualties, and yellow fever victims who found both sanctuary and death within the mansion’s walls.

The property harbors the collective spirits of antebellum-era residents whose supernatural presence reflects the tragic legacy of the Old South, where the mansion witnessed the deaths of family members during yellow fever outbreaks that devastated Natchez, enslaved people who died serving the household during Mississippi’s slavery period, and Civil War-era casualties who sought medical treatment in the mansion when it served as temporary refuge during Union occupation of the historic river city.

The Guest House Historic Mansion stands as Mississippi’s premier antebellum haunted accommodation where 16 unique guest rooms provide luxury lodging while maintaining the spiritual legacy of those who experienced both Southern grandeur and tragic death, making this Natchez landmark a supernatural portal to the Old South where the ghosts of plantation society, slavery, disease, and war continue their eternal residence in one of America’s most historically tragic and haunted destinations.
